Nuit Blanche Program

There are only two more days left until the moment we all expected: Nuit Blanche Amsterdam event.

Yesterday we have presented you the program that Eddie the Eagle Museum prepared for the Nuit Blanche event, now we are back to give you an insight on all the different activities from different locations in Amsterdam that are going to take place on 18th June as part of the Nuit Blanche event as well as the costs for these.

1. Guerilla Restaurant19.00 – 04.00
Location: We could tell you but we’d have to kill you.

For one night only enjoy an amazing 3 course meal in a top secret location! What began as five friends organizing extraordinary dinner parties for their friends quickly became something bigger. An intervention into not just the Amsterdam party scene, but also the restaurant scene. The Guerilla Restaurant brings excellent, innovative cuisine to surprising and secret places.
The whole experience is carefully designed to surprise, delight and intrigue, from the food to the decor to the music to the way you are brought to the secret location. Call 0642832718 on the day of the event to find out where we’ll be taking you. We offer three services at 19.00, 23.00 and 03.00, but drop by any time for a midnight snack and the fabulous company of Barry the Cat and others.

2. Eddie the Eagle Shopping Centre
20.00-07.00, and the whole month of June during regular opening hours
Location: Magna Plaza (Nieuwzijds Voorburgwal 182)

For the month of June a group of sixty artists take over empty spaces in Magna Plaza, creating a unique post-shopping experience. We don’t sell you things; we sell you personal growth and experience. Expect premiere exhibitions, performances and theatre exploring art, commerce and what it is to exchange value. You can visit the Eddie the Eagle Shopping Centre in the Magna Plaza during regular opening hours in the month of June. Tickets for Nuit Blanche are on sale there as well!

3. 10-Hour Jam Session
19.00-05.00
Location: Brakke Grond (Nes 43)

Prepare yourself for a marathon of spectacular music at De Brakke Grond. Help Flemish band Kapotski build an interactive music installation from broken kitchen appliances, busted vacuum cleaners and defunct record players. Bring your broken impulse buys and dead hairdryers, and watch them find new life as part of a musical machine full of industrial noise and unexpectedly beautiful sound!
Meanwhile, photo exhibition [Re]: TILT examines how humans persist in the midst of chaos, with works from talented photography students from Breda, Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent. In another room, SLAVE, the brilliant organization behind the legendary and decadent art parties at the Supperclub, present a program of arts and culture. Expect the unexpected from this experimental platform for artists, filmmakers, musicians, writers, poets, and everyone in between. Then dance all night at the afterparty, with a cutting edge DJ line-up from KISS-Escort.

4. Don’t go into the light!
19.00 – 01.00
Location: EYE Film Institute (Ij-promenade 1)

The EYE Film Institute will soon be located at the Ij-promenade in Amsterdam North. This impressive new building also happens to be located where the gallows in medieval Amsterdam once stood. To make sure the Institute gets off to the best possible start, we’ll be holding a cinematic initiation rite every half hour to scare away any possible demons. A ghost tour is also available for a limited number of participants.
EYE Film Institute has also selected a range of surreal horror films to be screened during the night. One of the highlights will be a performance by Amsterdam noise-sample duo The Moi Non Plus, who will play a live soundtrack to David Lynch’s legendary film “Eraserhead”.
In a special Dome, constructed next to the building, we will be presenting a music program by Subbacultcha. Rising British artist Star Slinger and Bachelorette (all the way from New Zealand!) will rock the stage.

5. Cracklight District

Metrostop Rokin Noord/Zuidlijn (at the big M)

CFYE presents Cracklight District, an exhibition and workshop exploring the luminous world of light painting. Bring your camera, and unleash the light!

Ticket FAQ

I can’t wait to come! Where do I buy my tickets?

We don’t blame you! There are three ways to buy your tickets. First, you can buy them online here. Second, you can buy them at the Eddie the Eagle Museum in Magna Plaza. Third, you can pick one up at De Brakke Grond on Saturday the 18th. Tickets cost €12 and will let you into (mostly!) everything, but we’ll get to that!

How do I use my ticket to access the event?

It’s easy! When Nuit Blanche finally arrives take your ticket to De Brakke Grond and exchange it for a wrist band. Then go crazy! There’s no set route, no schedule, just follow your heart and see where it leads.

But I don’t wanna buy a ticket! What do I do?

If you don’t have a ticket the Guerilla Restaurant will cost €5, if you’re coming for a snack and a drink instead of the €25 dinner. The Eddie the Eagle Plaza will also cost €5, as will the Brakke Grond, Eye Film Institute and Cracklight District. Rental, Art and Bicycle Maintenance will cost €3 for entry, while bike hire will cost €5 to €7. The performance at the Parool Theatre will cost €2.50.

Yay, I have a ticket! Do I still have to pay for anything?
The Happy Hooker part of the Mini Tour costs €5 whether you have a ticket or not, and you will need to email mirjam@nuitblancheamsterdam.nl to make a booking. Dinner at the Guerilla Restaurant costs €25, and bookings are essential.

We hope we have presented you the most useful information. For more details and a map with all the locations, check out the following website: www.nuitblancheamsterdam.nl

And as a last tip: Sleep as much as you can these days because on Saturday night a 12-hours adventure is being prepared for you!

On the 18th of June the Nuit Blanche festival takes place.
